The hotel opened on March 14th 1924. Due to historical and political occurences the hotel was used for many different things. During World War II it housed the german Genral Staff, and from 1945 – 1948 it was used to accommodate the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was only returned to it\"s original function in 1948 when it changed ownership, from private hands to the to an ownership by the employees. * The “Excelsior” hotel restaurant has a capacity of 100 seats and is located on the ground floor of the hotel.
