Trendy boutique Scandic Front Hotell, re-opened in 2006, housed in a Funkis-style, six-storey building situated on the harbour promenade. Front Hotel won the hearts of the Copenhagen citizens in the 17th century when she refused to leave the town during a siege laid by Swedish forces. Sophie Amalie was reputed to be an excellent and charming hostess who afforded great attention to the many guests of the Royal Court. For that reason the hotel is named after her as Queen Sophie Amalie Hotel.
